Calling and texting American Radio Stations
Radio stations love requests from their local listeners, especially those made by phone call or text messages. At the end of the day, all they want and need is the approval of their own listeners, so they consider those requests more than Twitter’s requests since they know fandoms doesn’t represent the actual demography of their listeners.
Therefore, if you have an US phone number, it would help tremendously if you could call or at least text your local stations. If you can call or text more than just your local station, that would be even better.
Some tips:
⚡Listen to the radio a few minutes before calling or texting. Then make sure you show them you know what they just played and what you’d like for them to play next.
⚡Know DJs by name. If needed, access radio’s website because they have their names and which time those DJs are on air. This will show them you are a frequent listener and they will love it.
⚡Don’t be so insistent if they don’t play at the day or time they said they would. That unfortunately can happen. Try two days later and act as if nothing had happened.
⚡You can call anytime, as long as you’re aware each time there’s a new DJ on air. We’d love if you could call before countdowns, but as long as we receive a spin at any time of the day, that’s good too.
⚡Be casual. Don’t act like a fan girl or boy. Act like a usual listener. You can even try that card of “Oh, could you please say the song that goes “It’s yoooouuu, babe… and I’m hmhmhmhm, and I could try and run but it would be useless”.
